 About Virtual Private Servers

What Is a Virtual Private Server?

A Virtual Private Server, or VPS (sometimes referred to as a Virtual Environment or VE), is a solution to many problems for many people. Obtaining a VPS is like obtaining one or many floors in a fully customizable office building. With a VPS, you have your choice of linux-based operating systems, so you can stick with the OS that you're already familiar with. You can knock out walls, put in your own furniture, and literally make this space your own. In the same way that you would have full control over your rented office space, you have full control over what programs are installed, how resources are managed, and how your system will function. For those of you familiar with linux based systems, you have full "root" (or administrative) privileges on your VPS.

The reason that we use an office building example is because that's what each of our servers is to our customers. We own several office buildings, and our customers each have the option to purchase as many floors in our buildings as they need.
